Lucid Touch
Background
The interactive experience of Lucid Touch stems from my years of research and collaboration with the Centre for Sleep Research, University of South Australia and the allure to the sense of touch within physical interactivity.
Over the years I have become progressively fascinated with the mind space in the dream world and the scientific methods of sleep research. This has led me to conduct my own experiments, watching the brainwave patterns of sleeping subjects. In the lab I have awoken sleepers from REM to ask them about the content of their dreams. Highly emotive dreams are what I am looking for; dreams that make you "feel" a certain way upon awaking. I have only just hit the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dream research and creating ways in which I can incorporate the findings into interactive experiences.
The URL I have set up for the purpose of dream collection has been highly popular and has collected many dreams from around the world.

I have also conducted research into the physical interface and alternative controllers to the mouse, in gallery based new media art. I am interested in the individuals' approach to an interactive installation and how the interface connects with the concept of the artwork; avoiding the interface for interface sake issue. Also, the process of interaction has been high on my agenda, the simpler the better. One of my pet hates is coming across a new media artwork that requires the participant to read a string of instructions before the artwork can be experienced. A successful artwork should be immediately approachable with a simple interface that conveys a complex idea. The participant should have to only think about the meaning, not how the use the piece.
